Comar AIS Multi Features
The AIS-MULTI is a combined AIS Dual Channel Receiver and Antenna Splitter all in one compact unit. Installation is quick and easy as it utilizes the boat's existing VHF Radio Antenna to provide AIS reception, thus reducing cost and time. The AIS-MULTI is the latest offering in the innovative family of products designed and manufactured in the U.K. by Comar Systems. The AIS-MULTI offers a combination of features not found in other AIS solutions.
The product’s unique features and benefits include:
Dual-channel parallel AIS receivers: The AIS-MULTI includes two AIS receivers operating in parallel providing true dual-channel simultaneous reception of both Class A and Class B transponder signals. This ensures that all AIS transponder broadcasts are captured in real time.
- Built-in active VHF antenna splitter with amplifier: The AIS-MULTI connects directly to the vessel’s existing VHF radio antenna system. The integrated antenna splitter amplifies the antenna signal before being shared by the external VHF radio and internal AIS receivers, thus ensuring minimal insertion loss.
- Built-in NMEA multiplexer: The AIS-MULTI can be used as a multiplexer to consolidate AIS information with data from other NMEA devices, such as a GPS, into a single output data stream, removing the need for a separate multiplexer.
- NMEA and USB output ports: The AIS-MULTI can output data to a range of devices including chart plotters and computers via integrated NMEA and USB output ports. This allows the boater to utilize multiple types of display devices simultaneously with a single AIS product.
- Support for 12 and 24 volt power: The AIS-MULTI can be powered by 12 or 24 volt DC allowing for installation in virtually any vessel’s power system.
- All-in-one solution: The AIS-MULTI combines all of these of functions into a single product that saves customers the cost of buying separate components and simplifies AIS installation.
- USB Support: Driver support for most common computer operating systems. Virtual COM ports are installed to allow for use with any application that supports accessing AIS data via a serial port.
